Our instructors bring a love of languages and culture to the class curriculum. With their passion and educational skills, the instructors animate the language, creating an exciting environment for learning.

• Kim Andersen founded the Language Center in July, 2003. She has a BA in Spanish Language and Literature and a MS in Education. She has New York State certifications in Spanish K-12, English as a Second Language, and Bilingual Education. Kim teaches private and group classes to adults, manages the Language Center, is available for tutoring high school students
• Gloria Batista joined Las Mariposas in the fall of 2006. She grew up in New York City, speaking Spanish and English in her bilingual household. Her children's classes come to life with her lively teaching style and natural creativity.
• Ned Danison joined Las Mariposas in December of 2006 as a Chinese instructor for adults. He teaches ESL in the public school system full time.
• Eid Sweis is a native Arabic speaker from Jordan. He began teaching at Las Mariposas in July of 2007. He will be teaching Arabic in group or private lessons for the adult program.
• Olivia Barone joined Las Mariposas in June of 2007. She grew up in a bilingual English / French household and is a NYS certified French teacher. She teaches all levels of French to adults and children in group and private lessons at Las Mariposas and is available for tutoring high school students.
• Sherry Schermerhorn will be teaching at Las Mariposas beginning in the Fall of 2007. She has a Master's in Spanish and NYS certification in Spanish and French. She will be teaching in the adult program and available for tutoring high school students.  She will be available for classes again in November of 2008.
• Katia Ferrera is a native of Brazil. An experienced teacher currently working at Skidmore, she is offering Portuguese classes for adults and children.
• Undine Giguere holds a PhD in Education, is a native German speaker and is also proficient in English and French. We are very excited to welcome her aboard to teach German. She will be offering classes again for children or adults in January in 2009.
