English (ESOL) Teachers

Kim Andersen

Kim founded Capital Region Language Center (formerly Las Mariposas) in April of 2002.  She loves teaching both English to Speakers of Other Languages and Spanish. Her love of languages and culture began while going to University and living in Washington DC and then followed her first to public school in San Francisco and then later to Paraguay.  She has NYS certifications to teach both English and Spanish and enjoys teaching to all ages.  She and her husband also started a fair trade shop, Mango Tree Imports, in May of 2006.

Franziska Bluemich

Fran holds a Bachelors Degree in Linguistics and Communications, Psychology and Educational Science from Aachen University, Germany and is currently working on her Master's in Education at CUNY at Albany. Being a dual German/American citizen, Fran was raised bilingual growing up in Germany. She has done German/English translations in various fields such as Macromolecular Chemistry and worked as an interpreter at the World Championships in Bobsledding, Luge and Skeleton in Lake Placid last winter. In Germany she often tutored friends and fellow students in English.  Fran is currently teaching German classes for both children and adults in Malta and Colonie and is available to teach ESOL classes as well. 

Natalia Carusone

Natalia Carusone has a Masters Degree in Literacy Instruction in English and German as foreign languages. She is a native Russian speaker who has over 9 years of experience in teaching one-on-one and small group classes in Russian and English. Since moving to the United States Natalia has been working with bilingual children. She is a NYS certified ESOL teacher and plans to continue her education. Currently she is teaching ESOL to children in the Johnstown school district.  Natalia is offering classes to children and adults at CRLC in Malta and Colonie.

Judy Myrth

Judy holds two degrees in German, (B.A. and M.A.), a Master‘s Degree in Library Science, and  permanent teaching certification in NYS (German 7-12). She had two exchange years, one at the University of Würzburg, the other as a DAAD fellowship recipient at the Free University of Berlin. For five years she taught English at two schools in Bavaria, a Gymnasium and a Realschule.  Judy has done occasional technical translations and substitute taught in Latin and German.  For most of her career she has been an art history editor at the Getty Research Institute.  She would be available to tutor or give conversational English lessons at the Malta location.  While she is available to work with all students of languages other than English, her passion lies in helping native German speakers master the English language.
